UPDATE: We have just found out that Phoebe has Stage 3 Mast Cell Cancer. This is a very aggressive cancer which has already invaded her lymph nodes. Sadly dogs with this diagnosis usually do not live more than 3-4 months. During the time she has left we will provide palliative care to make her as comfortable as possible. Her foster dad has agreed to take care of her until it is time to cross the Rainbow Bridge. BACKGROUND: I am a 9 year old, 45 lb. petite, lady that they are calling Phoebe -that’s Fee-bee. It means “bright and shining” which makes this name the perfect choice for me. I have been a natural blonde all my life and the name suits me, don’t you think? In the not too distant past I found myself lost and alone on the road to the animal shelter way over in Alabama. Not the accommodations I would choose but being outside and lost is not pleasant either. The Social Worker there could see how desperate I was and contacted that famous rescue group called AGA. It’s for us Golden Retrievers. I’ve always known about them but never dreamed I would one day need their help. Having been in my foster home for a little while now I can tell you some things about myself-my foster made a list for me. I am totally good if I have to stay in the house while my foster is gone. I take naps, look out the window and walk around exploring but I don’t touch anything!. I like to just relax and stay calm and I like to hear how your day went when you get home.I look forward to riding in the car or to taking walks and always hope I’ll see people I know and meet new ones. That’s a good way to get a hug or a pat which I love! My foster says I’m a very talented dancer and show off my skills especially when I see my dinner about to be served. A little before dinner entertainment! Now I am looking forward to a nice new family where I can settle in and not have to move again. My old life is behind me and I know only good things are ahead. Love to everyone, Phoebe.
