Meet Red (Eric the Red for long), a 2.5 year old golden boy who was at an Alabama shelter that was full beyond capacity and was being held in the pens outside during the freeze spell. His pen-mate was found dead due to the cold. One of our volunteers rushed to get Red to safety. He had heartworms but thanks to a very kind golden soul who stepped up and paid for his treatment, he is all better now. Red is a sweet boy who was down on his luck and just needed a second chance. So we helped him to get started – then along came mom and dad. When his new family met Red they fell in love. They got to see him have fun at the dog park, which sealed the deal. Now Red will have a mom that works part-time, a dad that wants a pal to hang out with, and two daughters that will be home for the whole of the summer. He will also have a beach house so he’s eager to get in shape to make his new family proud(er) and to woo in the chicks. Life is going to be good – golden good!
