Riley is an 8 year old male curly coated golden who was surrendered by his owner to an Animal Shelter, due to financial problems. The shelter called us and immediately we flew into action! Our volunteer found him lying down in his cage very lonely and depressed. He perked up immediately when he saw the friendly face of our volunteer and knew to get excited…today would be a good day because he was going to get rescued. He pranced out of the kennel happy as could be and was an absolute perfect gentleman while he waited for the paperwork to get processed then jumped right into the volunteer’s SUV with no time to waste as he had to get on his way with his new journey! He arrived at the vet’s office and put on a little talent show for the staff…he knew sit, down, stay, shake, and high five! A perfect golden, down on his luck that just needed the perfect family… Well, now his every wish has come true. A very special family came along looking for a furry best friend for their 10 year old son. In fact, their son has been asking for a dog for a very long time now and his parents finally felt it was the right time for him to help take on the responsibility of adding a family member (not just a pet) to the mix. Their son participates in a Canine Readers program at his school and that was all the convincing he needed – a golden would help to make their lives perfect! Mom and dad both work out of the house, so Riley will have constant companionship. They are an active household and plan to take him on lots of walks and hikes. Mom has already sent us a note confirming Riley’s place in his new home “We’ve been wanting a dog for about six months and were told by a very experienced rescuer: the right dog will find you at the right time. Indeed, as soon as we saw Riley, we felt he was our boy.” Welcome home Riley.
