This is Sailor – a very handsome 2 year old male purebred golden who was literally hours away from being put to death in a kill shelter in North Georgia. He was found as a stray convienently across from the shelter (which really means he was dumped there.) He was put in a run outside next to an aggressive pitbull. He was cold, afraid and simply miserable. When we came to get him, he jumped into the car and settled down in a few minutes with his head resting on the back of the seat looking out the window. After stopping and getting something out of the trunk, Sailor jumped in the trunk. He wasn’t about to be left behind. Simply knowing this wonderful guy was facing a cruel and unnecessary death makes Sailor’s story a true rescue and he deserved to find his forever home — someone to protect him and keep him safe. Sailor thought he found that when he was adopted the first time but Sailor wasn’t feeling well and no one knew what was wrong. After several tests, it was found that Sailor had a very mild case of heartworms. We were relieved because it was caught early and Sailor will be completely cured. His adoptive family was unwilling to nurse him through the next 60 days so he was returned to us. Sailor didn’t have to wait very long for someone. A wonderful family who have two teenage boys was looking for a dog just like Sailor. When Sailor came for a visit, he jumped on the couch and made himself right at home. Within minutes, Sailor had wrapped everyone around his big paw. They are going to nurse Sailor through his heartworm treatment and when last seen Sailor was relaxing on the couch watching TV.
