Sam Hunt is a 2 year old purebred male golden retriever. Sam belonged to an older couple in Alabama who kept him out in the backyard where he was isolated, bored and without any flea protection. When we brought him in, Sam was covered in fleas and mosquito bites, and was so sad from no attention he had a lick granuloma on his front leg – a common problem with this sort of isolation and boredom. It’s almost healed now. He was not let in the house or given much interaction besides being fed. A fellow rescuer asked if she could take Sam and help him and the couple gave her Sam. She fostered him for 2 months and now he is a happy, playful boy who has adjusted very quickly to the good life. He is active and playful in the house but quickly figured out that playing with his toys is preferred over furniture or shoes. The foster reports that he is just an overall great dog and once she felt he was ready for his real home she called us. So we helped Sam find his new home. Of course, he is still living the good life. He has a great new family who are dedicated golden lovers. Mom and dad previously owner two golden retrievers who lived long healthy lives. Sadly, their last golden died earlier this year of kidney disease. Home just didn’t feel like home without the pitter patter of golden feets, not to mention the never ending abundance of golden hair everywhere. Life is finally feeling right again and Sam has certainly hit the jackpot. In addition to mom and dad, he has 2 teenage boys who plan to play with him and love on him until his heart is content. Life doesn’t get much better!
