Sandy is a 9 year old purebred female golden who came from Mississippi with his canine family member, Sandie Rose Bloom, when their elderly parents could no longer care for them. These dogs have their AKC papers and have great temperaments. Unfortunately, the shelter in Mississippi was overcrowded and the day we rescued them over 30 dogs were put down…it’s a true miracle that these sweet dogs were saved for us. A wonderful volunteer from Mississippi stepped in to help, she personally boarded them and then drove them to Birmingham to meet us. Talk about a really nice lady. We decided that it was best for Sandie and Buddy to carve their own paths and now they have both been adopted. Sandie’s path was a little shorter than Buddy’s. She was placed in her foster home with a terrific lady. There was only one problem — we assigned the foster with her perfect match! Sandie loves to play and enjoy life, as well as being a true sidekick. She just loved following her foster mom around and being her true golden gal! It only took about a day from coming into her home, until both Sandie and her foster mom were in sync with their routines, habits and mannerisms. Over the next few weeks and into the holidays, Sandy’s foster mom soon started to realize that she was beyond attached with Sandie, and could not imagine having to give her up. It was like Sandie had been part of the family for years! With adoption day quickly approaching, mom realized she had a very tough decision to make…could she bear the thought of waking up without Ms. Sandie by her side? The answer came in the form of a Christmas Stocking. You see, mom (like most people) still has not braved the cold weather to move the Christmas decorations back into the garage. So when she realized that it was time to take the stocking down the dilemma was…should the stocking stay in the garage until next year? Of course it should! Now Sandie and mom will now have plenty of time to continue bonding. Sandie knew all along that she had found her forever family and now the rest of us know it, too! Happy New Year, Sandie!
