My name is Shelby, and I’m a 9-year-old golden girl weighing 56 pounds, with a sweet heart, a gentle soul, and plenty of life left to live.
I first came to AGA after losing my beloved mom, who had been by my side for nine wonderful years. I found a new home, but sometimes life doesn’t go exactly as planned, and now I’m back with AGA, looking once again for my perfect match. I know my forever family is still out there somewhere!
I’m house-trained, easygoing, and do not need a crate. I love being with my people and have enjoyed playing with my foster dog sister, too. I would really like another friendly dog in my forever home, although it’s not an absolute must. Having a furry friend around may help me feel more comfortable and confident.
I’m looking for a calm, patient family where someone is home more often than not. I can get a little worried when left alone, especially while I’m settling into a new home, and I may bark as I adjust. Busy, new, or overstimulating environments can also make me nervous, so what I really need is someone who understands that I just need a little time to feel safe.
A quiet home with not a lot of stairs would be best for me — no apartments, condos, or townhomes, please. I’d also do best with no kids or dog-savvy kids who are 8+.
I have so much love and companionship left to give. I just need a patient family, a calm place to call home, and maybe a furry friend or two to help me settle in. Could that be you? With gentle tail wags, Shelby Sr
