Sissy is an 11 year old female golden retriever. Sissy and her friend Emmy came to AGA’s attention back in February 2010 when we were asked to take Sissy the golden retriever and Emmy the yellow lab–emails about the plight of Sissy and Emmy were making the rounds because they were left homeless due to the unfortunate deaths of their elderly owners back to back. Family members lived out west and Sissy and Emmy were taken in by Best Friend Animal Hospital where they were beloved patients. Eventually someone stepped in to take both of them (AGA was willing as well) and all was right in the world. However, things once again went wrong when Emmy passed away and Sissy was mourning her friend. The new owner has a grandson that developed serious allergies and AGA was once again contacted for help. Once we got Sissy, we found that she is deaf and she also had a volleyball size fatty tumor! Yes, volleyball size! We had that nasty tumor removed and in the care of one of our foster homes, she healed quite well. Two good things came out of that tumor. First, it was only a fatty tumor that grew out of control. And second, her foster family fell in love with her and couldn’t let her go! Now Sissy is happy, healthy and home. Her new mom and dad adore her and she has 3 human siblings to spoil her rotten! Sissy also has a couple furry siblings too. Biscuit is an 11 year old mixed breed with personality galore and Bella, a 5 year old golden retriever who knows all about the good life. Now Sissy is learning about life, love and happiness too – and reports are that’s she enjoying what she’s learning!
