Spice is an 8 week old female golden mix puppy who came to us a just one day old. Her mom Sugar surprised us with her on 11-04-10. Sugar was also an AGA orphan but while she was Spice’s mother and she sadly rejected little Spice. However, one of our wonderful foster families had hand raised little Miss Spice with bottle feedings every three hours – including nighttime shifts. We do not know who Sugar was dating but it does appear that Sugar ventured outside the world of goldens to find her man. Spice’s personality is just awesome. She has the typical puppy fearlessness and loves to explore. Although she and her mother didn’t really know one another that well, we thought it was kind of ironic that they both found their new families on the same day – so there is a happy beginning for both girls. Spice’s happy beginning starts with a wonderful family that adopted golden boy Vinnie from us a few years ago. They had him for 5 months before he suddenly got really sick. After he passed dad began volunteering for us – they just weren’t quite ready to open their hearts to adopt a golden again but still wanted to help make a difference. When they met Spice, along with their younger dog, their was an instant love connection! Spice now has a fenced-in yard, a pool, a canine sister, a grandchild that visits on occasion, a stay-at-home mom, and a dad that works nights (while Spice is curled up on his bed, of course!). Just one day shy of her 10 week birthday, Spice became a forever family member. Her new family will receive copies of Spice’s “Baby Book” that her fosters compiled throughout her first few weeks as a pup, and they have also promised to keep us updated with pictures and stories. We can’t wait to hear the rest of Spice’s story!
