Sugar (our beautiful 18 month old female purebred golden) came to us from Alabama. Apparently, her previous owner turned her into a shelter because she was continuously escaping from his yard. We aren’t sure if she even had a fence…perhaps she just knew something better was out there for her! Sugar is a little shy when she first meets someone, but quickly turns into a typical golden lovebug once she realizes she is safe. Unfortunately, she came to us HW positive, but thanks to one of our best Alabama volunteers (Theresa Rogers), she was able to successfully complete her heartworm treatment. Sugar is as sweet (if not more!) as her name and her new family was the only thing missing. Well, it was her lucky day. A nice lady came to adoption day looking for her furry soul mate. She was taking care of her sister’s golden, but when her sister recently returned for her furry baby she was lonely and decided to adopt. When she met Sugar the deal was done! She was completely engaged in meeting Sugar that day, down on the ground and interacting with her like they had belonged to each other forever. Now they will as Sugar went to live with her new mom. Sugar (now Harriet) is her new baby girl and was treated to a shopping spree at PetSmart on her way to her new home…everyone at the store exclaimed how beautiful and sweet she was…and mom loved showing her off!
