When I was on the big plane coming here from Turkey I tried to imagine what it would be like having a home and a family and being an American dog. When you live in a dog shelter and hear that the next place you will be going was into the forest, well, that’s about all you can think about. I and the other dogs on the plane played pretending games, thinking of all the things we really wanted when we found our families. We knew it was just pretend- maybe all we could hope for was another shelter or another forest. But that’s not true. We are all finding wonderful homes-me included! My mom and dad brag on me and show me off to the neighbors. I help dad with his work at home and play with the greyhound (I never saw one of those before) that lives here. There used to be a brother dog here but he is with the angel dogs now. And the best part of all of my journey is that I am safe and loved and never have to be worried about going back to the forest or living in a shelter again. My message to the Turkey dogs waiting, “Don’t give up- your turn is coming! Love you all, Sugar
