Hello from me and my best friend, Sunshine. I am an 11 yr. old Golden Retriever boy and she is about 9 and a beautiful combination of a Basset Hound and maybe a little Beagle. We have a story that started off a little tough, but we’re happy to report a happy ending. We have been together for a long time and couldn’t get along without each other. Our owner just threw us away. It was bad enough being abandoned in a shelter but we were terrified we would be separated. We heard a golden rescue was coming and I just knew that didn’t sound good for Sunshine. I made up my mind I would not leave her behind and asked if she couldn’t come too. They were so, so nice and said, “of course- we won’t separate such good pals!” We had some troubles along the way when the dog doctor informed us that poor Sunshine had heartworms. She was very upset. and we needed to help her. She needed $500 to pay for her treatment, and I promised I would do anything to see that she got it. And it worked because a very kind couple, Max & Savannah Johnson, came to Sunshine’s rescue and paid for her treatment. Yeah! I just needed a few of my teeth fixed, so I was luckier. When we were on our own, we both lived outside with no medicine, so it’s a wonder I didn’t have those worms too. Everyone
we met along the way was so nice to us- we really love people and love attention and we have constant smiles painted across our faces.
And guess what?! We have a lot MORE to smile about these days (thank goodness I got my teeth fixed!) because our foster mom wants to keep us…permanently!! You heard right! I guess one could say that we charmed her because she told us she wanted to be our forever mom– music to our floppy ears! We have foster dog sibling friends, and we all enjoy playing in our fenced-in backyard. Sunshine and I both have our own cozy beds to curl up on, and we’re looking snazzy in our new collars, too! We’re so lucky that we get a lot of quality time with our forever mom. The three of us got real close back when Sunshine and I were in need of a big heart and some snuggles…we couldn’t be more grateful. Well, we have a lot of sniffing to do in our yard today, followed by a big ol’ nap in our nests, so needless to say we have a busy day ahead! Thank you all for your love and kisses, and we couldn’t have asked for a happier home.
Love always from your favorite pair, Sunshine and Champ
