Toby, a purebred 11 year old male golden, had an owner who turned him into a shelter because he was scared of “storms”. We can’t figure out why it took him 11 years to learn that about him. When Toby came in he was dirty, overweight and very matted. It was obvious he had been kept outside where the “storms” are really scary. And, since his former owner was cruel and kept Toby outside, Toby had a mild case of heartworms that had to be cured. So, first we had to find a special foster home for Toby. We found someone who had adopted from us before — someone who has a heart of gold and who had just lost one of his senior goldens. This guy has a thing for the old boys and it didn’t take long for the Tobymeister to wrap him around his big paws. Yep, you guessed it. His foster dad rescued him and adopted him. Toby loves being an inside dog and has discovered the storms aren’t bad when you are safe inside. BTW- Toby does not wear tennis shoes as this photo implies.
