Meet Wilton – a 5 year old purebred male golden retriever who we found sitting in a shelter in North Georgia. Wilton’s story is he was found as a stray and taken to the shelter. He was adopted by a family but Wilton saw the neighbor’s cat and was off leash and Wilton killed the cat. So he was taken back to the shelter. Wilton is a good dog who would have been put down if we hadn’t gone to get him. He is wonderful with people, other dogs and adores kids – he just didn’t like cats! So we needed to find him a home sans small animals! However, before we could do that we needed a little help treating him for heartworms – thanks to our volunteers and adopters, Wayne Whitelaw they are now gone! Wayne Whitelaw sponsored Wilton “to celebrate his adopting Jackson, formerly known as Jack Frost, and in appreciation of Adopt a Golden Atlanta saving so many great dogs and enriching the lives of the people lucky enough to adopt one of those dogs.” Wilton is one lucky golden and now, thanks to those who love him, he is making his new family very happy! His new mom and dad both work at UGA and currently have no other pets. Wilton will be their only furry love! However, there is a small flock of bantam chickens on his new property. Fortunately for Wilton and the chickens they live in a separate fenced area. So the chicks can taunt Wilton all they want. Someday soon they’ll probably be friends!
